Educate
We sponsor guest speakers and discussions for The Redwoods community and the public, on social justice, political and environmental issues.
We screen free dramatic and documentary films related to our mission on Wednesday nights at The Redwoods.
We conduct periodic educational sessions with our fellow residents on the importance of recycling and reuse programs.
Advocate
We encourage contact with our Senators, members of Congress, County Supervisors and City Council members on current issues by phone calls, emails, petitions and attendance at public meetings.
During each election cycle we encourage full voter registration and participation within The Redwoods. We hold candidate forums for key local offices. Our voter turnout rate is twice as high as our surrounding community.
We promote voter registration and Get Out The Vote nationwide by our postcard writing projects.
Demonstrate
We hold a demonstration each Friday afternoon on our corner holding handmade posters and singing patriotic and protest songs. We protest war and military buildup. We call attention to social injustices and threats to our democracy. We occasionally hold our weekly demonstration on a Saturday to join a national protest day.
Collaborate
We partner with our neighbors in Marin City to support their community projects such as Come to the Table.
We join with local advocacy organizations such as MVFREE to advance racial equity in local law enforcement and to assure support for marginalized students in our public education system.
We are members of the ICE Out of Marin Coalition seeking to protect our immigrant neighbors from illegal harm, and to advance equitable policing in our County.
We support Marin County environmental groups such as Sustainable Mill Valley and Green Change.
